Safe Seats:
For staffers and volunteers working in politics
It shouldn't matter if you are a volunteer delivering election leaflets, a candidate at conference, a staffer in party HQ or an elected representative - you are entitled to expect to be safe at work. For so many working in politics today, this is sadly not the case. Political parties, and the systems they work within, are harming their staffers and volunteers, whilst destroying lives. It's time to Change the Chat.

Have you had a bad experience of working in politics?
It's widely recognised that politics is not a safe environment to work in. Instead of fixing the problem, political parties choose to cover up wrongdoing. Only the silent get to stay. We're here to change that.

Change The Chat is fighting for a new way of doing politics. We are working with those who have been harmed whilst working in a political party within the UK, along with organisations and groups who are calling for real change. Please join us and share your experience.

In a recent survey, 65% of reported incidents in Westminster remain unresolved, 22% of staffers have been undermined or humiliated in the last 12 months and one in five report that they did not like who they were becoming. A third of women working in Holyrood have experienced sexual harassment or sexist behaviour. Political parties are notoriously terrible at dealing with complaints effectively.

Open to all genders with experience of working and volunteering in politics in the UK, inclusive of those still in politics and those who have moved to another career. This project includes parliamentarians and families, too.
