You know when something happens at work and you can't quite put your finger on what's wrong?
The comment that gets laughed off. The person everyone works around. The meeting where someone says nothing, when you know they have something to say. The behaviour that's somehow fine when one person does it, but a problem when someone else does.
We pick up on far more of this than we realise. But noticing something is happening doesn't necessarily mean we understand it. And even when we do, knowing how to respond can be difficult.
Reading the Room is a three-hour workshop about exactly that.
We'll take situations that happen in real workplaces and pull them apart. What's actually going on here? What are we missing? Who has power? What might be stopping someone from speaking? Why does one response work in one situation and completely fail in another?
